When I review books I focus on non-fiction, in a wide range of genres: science, current affairs, biographies & memoirs, nature & the environment, history, war, music, spirituality & religion …
I do not review self-help books.
Genres of no interest to me are fiction, young adult, romance, fantasy, chick-lit, adventure, erotica, and poetry.
I participate in blog tours and am particularly keen to support good Indie authors.
My preference is for an eBook in .mobi format.
My review ratings
If I read your book, I will review it fairly and honestly and rate it accordingly. Note that I have high standards when it comes to grammar, punctuation and spelling. The occasional error is understandable and forgivable. However, I am not impressed by repeat offenders, especially those who show little respect for the basic foundational elements of writing.
I try and maintain a rating system that is as simple and straightforward as possible. It’s based on the Goodreads rating system, adjusted slightly:
An exceptional book
A very good book
A good book
An okay book
A poor book
I will then post my review here on TheBookOwl, and on Goodreads, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com. My blog post will also be Tweeted, shared on my Facebook page, and I will make a Pinterest pin.
The blog post will also include links to buy the book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and The Book Depository. (I am an Amazon Associate so will add a nice clickable photo to your book on both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk).
I love getting books to review, and am always keen to get my teeth into a new book as soon as possible. If you have a book you would like me to review, please drop me a line from my contact page and send over a press release or synopsis and any relevant links.
In addition, if you are an author and would like to be interviewed for a blog article, drop me a line and let’s chat.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
P.S. If you are interested in a good discussion about reviewing, check out my post on How do you review and rate Indie books.
