A good question: just who-hooo is Denzil TheBookOwl?
I was born and educated in England and Wales, and have been living and working in Belgium for the past 30 years. I’m married to Liz, a clarinet teacher, and we have four adult children. I work as a freelance writer and editor.
I have been an avid consumer of literature since I was a toddler, when I picked up the daily newspaper and ate it. Moving on to healthier eating habits, as a young boy I voraciously consumed everything written by Alison Uttley, Enid Blyton, W.E. Johns (“Biggles”) and Roald Dahl. At the age of 15 things began to get serious with my first annual list of books read, and favorites in my teenage years included Tolkien, Thomas Hardy, George Eliot (she and I share the same birthplace), and Laurie Lee, while not being adverse to a bit (well, a lot) of Alastair Maclean, Gerald Seymour, Ruth Rendell and Frederick Forsyth.
But enough of the past. What about nowadays?
My diet is fairly varied, as you will see from my Reviews Policy. I read mostly non-fiction, in many different areas. I particularly enjoy reading books on current affairs, gender, science, nature, religion and spirituality. I also read contemporary fiction, historical fiction, psychological thrillers and fantasy novels.
I started this blog because I love reviewing books, sharing ideas about books, and giving and getting recommendations. I’m active on Goodreads and Amazon.
